Born in Edinburgh on 4 December 1964, Scott Hastings rose through school rugby at George Watson’s College before representing Scotland national rugby union team with distinction. Over an 11-year international career, he earned 65 caps, becoming Scotland’s most-capped centre at the time and scoring 10 international tries.

He also represented the British & Irish Lions on two tours and played for the Barbarians, earning admiration for his fearless defence, leadership, and skill.Scott was known not only as a fierce competitor but also as a warm, humorous, and generous man. He is lovingly remembered by his children Corey and Kerry-Anne, his brothers Gavin, Graeme, and Ewan, and extended family and friends.

He shared a deeply loving marriage with his late wife Jenny, whose passing in 2024 profoundly shaped his later years. Together, they supported charitable causes and community wellbeing initiatives across Edinburgh.

Scott’s achievements include a Grand Slam victory over England in 1990, multiple Rugby World Cup appearances, and induction into the Scottish Rugby Hall of Fame. Beyond rugby, he became a respected broadcaster, mentor, and charity advocate, particularly through initiatives such as the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
