Wreck On 75: Wrong-Way Crash on I-75 in Butler County Causes Major Closures, Critical Injuries

Wreck On 75: A major wrong-way crash involving multiple vehicles shut down northbound lanes of Interstate 75 in West Chester early Friday morning, leaving two drivers critically injured and causing significant traffic disruptions across Butler County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers were dispatched shortly after 2:20 a.m. following reports of a reckless driver operating a Honda Civic southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75. Authorities also received reports of a Honda Accord allegedly being driven erratically and possibly by an impaired driver.

Investigators say the Honda Civic crashed head-on into the Accord, causing severe damage to both vehicles. Moments later, a tractor-trailer struck the Accord, while a Kia collided with debris from the wreckage.

Emergency responders rescued both drivers from the destroyed vehicles before transporting them to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The crash prompted the temporary closure of all northbound lanes beyond Interstate 275 as police and emergency crews worked at the scene. Traffic delays stretched for miles before lanes were eventually reopened.

Authorities believe impairment may have contributed to the crash, though the investigation remains ongoing as troopers continue gathering evidence and reviewing the sequence of events.
